In recent years the Cayman Islands have become increasingly popular for couples choosing to have a destination wedding. The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has helped fuel this trend by positioning the islands as “three islands for two people with one thing in mind.” The beautiful setting and laidback island vibe have led to a tremendous surge in the number of weddings performed here on our captivating shores.

A marriage ceremony can be held anywhere within the Cayman Islands provided that you aren’t trespassing on private property. For an underwater wedding, you must have a proper ceremony above water to make it legal.

• Must apply for a Special Marriage License at District Administration (Cayman Brac)

• Proof of identity (birth certificate – if not an original it must be certified, or passport)
• Cayman Islands international embarkation/disembarkation card (issued at the time of arrival)
• Certified or original copies of divorce decrees/death certificates (if applicable)
• Fee of CI$150.00 (US$187.50) as well as a CI$50.00 (US$62.50) non-refundable application fee (total fees payable for Marriage License is CI$200.00 (US$250.00)

The license must be produced to the marriage officer performing the ceremony and becomes void if not used within three months of the issued date.
