Cayman Islands Currency
The official currency of the Cayman Islands is the Caymanian Dollar. Cayman money can also be identified as CI money. Our colourful dollar notes bear the face of the Queen, keeping in line with our British Heritage and status as a British Overseas Territory. Notes are in values of $1, $5, $10, $25, $50 and $100.
There is only one bank on the island – Cayman National Bank. All of your banking services can be conducted here and the bank is home to the only ATM found on Cayman Brac. For more information on services offered, visit www.caymannational.com. Most places on the island accept major debit and credit cards like Master Card and VISA. Very few places if any accept American Express so check with your accommodation or rental car agency prior to arrival.
Because of close relations with the United States of America, the US dollar is widely accepted in the Cayman Islands. We have a fixed Cayman exchange rate of CI $1.00 = US $1.25.
